Here’s some old pictures of TLC kids.
TLC Barefoot School is expecting another visitor soon. Dixie Songer, a retired school teacher from Edisto Island, SC is planning to work with Mr. Nickson, teachers and students. Welcome back Dixie Songer!
Mariem White and Kathy Freudenberger, who are from Ohio, where they attend Bethel United Methodist Church, spent several days visiting and working with the staff, teachers and students of TLC. They spent their last Sunday there worshipping at Quesqueya Chapel, a church started for visiting missionaries, and now overflowing with locals as well. Their last day at TLC was treating the kids to new socks, and saying farewell to TLC and friends. TLC thanks you for coming to see them Meriem and Kathy, and doing great things for the school, doing God’s work. See you next time!!
The TLC team would like to extend a generous thank you to Sharon Chamberlin of Shippensburg, PA for her local hoagie fundraiser she held to raise funds for the TLC barefoot school. Her gratuitous efforts resulted in $325 for the kids of Haiti! So thank you Sharon for all your hard work. We and the kids of Haiti greatly appreciate it! God Bless.
During August 17th-24th, Dr. Sylvia Pusser, a TLC Board member will be visiting Haiti, working along side others from Hands International. Hands International, Powder Springs, Georgia, will be providing a joint three day teaching seminar for the teachers of TLC Barefoot School, and the teachers of DePiatre School from Montrouis, covering Best Teaching Strategies. The overall topic and underlying theme Is, “Becoming The Teacher God Purposed Me To BE!” It is the groups desire to help the teachers grow professionally, and most importantly, grow closer in their relationship with Jesus Christ during this time. We ask that the group be kept in everyone’s prayers, as they continue to honor and glorify our Father, as they further professionally develop our teachers of Haiti.
To all of our wonderful child sponsors, supporters and friends:
The 2012-2013 School year has ended and many of you know that our fiscal year ended on June 30th.
We ask that all of you pray and see what the Lord might be saying about next year, 2013-2014. We all know HE gets the “first fruits,” and sometimes that is the TLC Barefoot School. In this difficult financial time for all of us, we ask that you pray hard about supporting one of our less fortunate children here in the school. With God and an education our children most likely will be the ones involved in the future changes in Haiti.
This year has been an EXTREMELY financially difficult year. We have 16 children NOT sponsored, this is the most we have ever had for any year. We still feel the Lord is working through the school, and we are to remain where we are and ceaselessly pray.
So once again we ask for your continued help and please as soon as you hear form the Lord let me know, even if He is leading you somewhere else it would help us so very much if we know in advance.
Blessings to all,
Please notify me through email at email@example.com or snail mails ASAP.

Mr. Nickson, TLC Principal
There was a surfer two weeks ago that was out in the ocean in South Carolina, where we hang out at. He was surfing in the rough waters as the storm Andrea passed along the coast. His brother seen him go under, his board came to shore, he never did. This surfer was Anderson Estep, 19 years old, bass player in our church praise team. He went to Haiti with us in 2012 to visit TLC. They (coast guard, lifeguards, and police) searched until 8:00 that night, then resumed on Saturday and then called off the search that day. The day after the memorial service, his surfer friends did a paddle out to where Anderson disappeared and tossed out flowers to say their goodbyes to their friend.
Please keep his family in your prayers. The family said that Anderson talked constantly about the love and sincerity of the people and children of TLC and Haiti. He was planning another mission trip in the future. This just shows you how fragile life can be and that no age is discriminated. Give your family a big hug and tell them you love them, you never know how many chances you will have.
Dear TLC board,
I am writing to you to give out an update about our graduation of 2012-2013. We were all very tired Friday afternoon after this very excited event that happened at TLC Barefoot School. Early in the morning, Mr. Nickson woke up at 5:30am to be at school to make sure that Jacqueline and the ladies have everything ready for the party. Also, some teachers came very early to decorate. I ran to Epid’or ( a restaurant) to pick up the cake that we ordered for our graduates. At 7:30am, the children came and eat breakfast. At 8:30am everyone was ready except for Mr. Nickson; I forgot my suit at the dry cleaning! I wanted to wear it so I rushed to the place and picked it up. Very quickly got home and dressed and ran down to school, it was already 9:15am. Miss Talie, the spelling teacher was the speaker of the day. When I got to the school, everyone was clapping and smiling. I went to Miss Talie and asked her if I could say something, she gave me the microphone and I said ” I am very sorry for being late, I forgot my suit at the dry cleaning.” Everybody was laughing……..
Miss Vanessa did a super job, teaching the little ones nice songs and dances. The teachers sang for the grads. The children are very gifted in many areas such as: singings, poetries, art and dance etc….. Miss Tallie called me in the middle of the celebration to pass out the diplomas.
I took the time to pray for Dormis and Marc and before I passed out the diplomas, Mr. Wilbert shared some words of encouragement about living wisely a life of acknowledgement of God’s purposes for their lives.
Each of the grads took the time to share in a speech how they appreciate all the help they have received at TLC. They also took time to thank TLC Board, Mr Nickson, teachers, cafeteria staff and most importantly their sponsors. While sharing their gratitude and feelings, I personally was in tears and I know many of you would feel the same.
At the end of the program, on behalf of TLC Board, I called all the teachers and the cooking staff to come in front in order to honor them for the hard work they have done for TLC Barefoot School. Every single child from Pre-K and up stood up to give hands to them.
One of the most interesting parts was to honor the teacher of the year. No one knew who was going to receive the prize. Suspense………. While all the teachers were standing up front, the students were anxious to know, the cooking staff was waiting, and teachers were smiling.
It was time for me to call the name of that teacher… He is one of the teacher that shows lots of enthusiasm in the work, shows up on time, serving food to the kids, helping in many areas. You all have met him, he is name is “Mr. ANDY LAMY, the Kindergarten teacher”. I am very proud of Mr. Andy, he really loves the children. A special thank you to Linda B and her friend for providing this very useful gift, which was an HP LAPTOP. Mr. Andy said thank you to TLC board and to Mr. Nickson.
The parents said thank you to TLC and they are very proud of their children. The children wanted rice and beans and some meat for the party. The grads loved their cake and they shared with the teachers. We had a wonderful time together. We want to thank our Mighty Lord for making all of this possible. Thanks to each one of the board members of TLC. A special thank- you to all our wonderful sponsors.
We love you!
