Dear Praying Friends and Family,
Yesterday we arrived at the Port-au-Prince airport after flying around in a holding pattern because some military planes were landing. Out of the window we saw many ships in port. One was an aircraft carrier with half the deck full of Humvees. We saw more planes at the airport from all over the world. There was even a large plane called Planet with a huge world painted on the tail.
The airport was chaotic with people everywhere. We took bus to the huge new warehouse for immigration and met Dottie. We had a Haitian man help us pick up our 15 huge pieces of luggage plus our 6 carry-ons and BIG purses. Nancy Jane had only 20 minutes from the time she landed in Miami to catch our flight so her two large bags did not come in. Finally we were escorted outside with four carts full of luggage and went through the heat, humanity and traffic to the cars. On the way to the guest house we saw some of the earthquake destruction, many small shelters, tents and tent cities. We finally arrived at the guesthouse and calmness.
This morning after a good breakfast of biscuits, sausage gravy, eggs and fruit, we went to TLC Barefoot School and arrived just as they were having opening exercises. How happy we were to see the kids and they seemed excited to see us. They sang some praise songs and some songs we had taught at VBS’s other years. The kids singing and rhythm with a drum and guitar we bought last year for Mr. Nickson was awesome. Seeing all the kids and hearing their singing brought tears of joy to our eyes. Praise the Lord for TLC, Dottie, Mr. Nickson, Mr. Ivens and all the teachers!!!
We unpacked some of the suitcases and inventoried all the t-shirts and packed them away by sizes. We also counted, sized and packed away shoes. All of these will be given as uniforms in the fall. After a good lunch of rice, tomato sauce and veggies — the same the kids ate — we planned for our unit on Australia which begins after school tomorrow for the 4th through 8th grades. Some of us went into the classrooms and observed. Nancy Jane and Mr. Nickson went back to the airport and finally found her luggage.
Thank you for all your prayers! We really feel them and need them. LOVE, The ODPC Haiti Team and Nancy Jane (Missouri).

A group from Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church in Myrtle Beach, SC are leaving March 27th, along with a lady from Missouri to teach VBS at our school. Please keep this group in prayer; for God’s protection, God’s strength, and His wisdom. For souls to be saved and for lives to be touched for Christ.

Last Saturday as we cooked food, like every Saturday, and passed out to the community, over 300 children and adults, I had told Mr. Ivens to check the feet of the children as I had noticed many in the tent communites going without shoes. I said if they need sandals give them some, well, of course they all
needed them, so we have some very happy faces and the Lord met all the needs, amen! We also decided they needed food for Sunday too, now remember these are not our TLC children, maybe a couple, but our children receive 2 bags on Friday to get them through the weekend so we decided the other children need something on Sunday too, thank you all for helping to make some of this food available.
The children are back to school very regular now, we did loose a few more, with parents that decided their children could be lazy. They would come every other day or every two days and then miss three, so these children are no longer part of TLC. We will notify the sponsors of these children. Praise the Lord we have not experienced any further aftershocks for a couple of weeks now, thank you Father. However, most of the Haitian people continue to live in the tents. It is a blessing that they have temporary shelter, but many things are beginning to happen within those communites. You can imagine over 3000 people living in tents…………rape, robbery, and pretty much like Sodom and Gomorrah. Mr. Ivens lives very close to one of these communities and the music and the partying goes on all night and they sleep all day, or watch soccer on the TV’s, gamble, and drink. Not a good environment for our children and this is where many of them are living. They need your constant prayers.
We thank the Lord that Mr. Nickson, Sophie and Damilie have now decided to move into a small apartment that will be provided by TLC. They will be much safer and definitely more comfortable. Most of the areas have started to have the city electric again, Mr. Nickson’s little place will have electricity at night, however my guesthouse is not one of them, even though he is only 2 houses away from me, so please pray that the new poles in front of my house will get connected.
Blessings to all, from all of us here in Haiti,
Dottie

Hi to everyone,
School continues to function here in Haiti. We do have far too many absences. We have 4 students that continue to be absent every week. They may come a day then miss two days, and their parents are allowing them to do this. We have sent notes home stressing the importance of attendance and the completion of school work, we even had a parent meeting and we have also had another report card day just last Friday. All parents are supposed to attend parent teacher conferences to discuss the progress or lack of progress of their child or children. Almost all children are staying after school, and this week we will begin extra classes on Saturday for any child that would like to try and catch up.
Most of our TLC graduates continue to help at the school everyday by grading pages for the children to move ahead and not be held up waiting for corrections. Benita, the oldest of our graduates is teaching math, with just a little help from Mr. Nickson, she is doing a good job too. It seems the Minister of Education is attempting to set up schools in tents, so we anxiously await more on what high schools will reopen.
We continue to prepare food for the community on Saturdays. We feed approximately 300 children and adults. We are also still distributing rice, beans, oil, fish, and tomato paste on the weekends within some of the smaller tent communities.
Mr. Ivens is doing a wonderful job helping Mr. Nickson and overseeing the happenings of the school. Imagine the Lord moving me to promote him at the same time Mr. Nickson’s wife was going to have the baby, not a coincidence!!!!! I consider all things “Godcidences.” By the way the baby weighed approx. 8 lbs. Nickson could not tell me for sure. Please lift all of them to our Father, the baby is having extreme gas, and Sophie is having a hard time nursing. Mr. Nickson has lost alot of sleep.
Our student, Ernst Noel has had hernia surgery, and has missed over 10 days of school. Mr. Ivens spent over 3 days just trying to find him and his father. Seems he is too ill to walk to school, but he is out and about everyday with his father. The mother is telling me he needs two months off to recouperate. I have insisted for a doctors excuse stamped with the hosptial’s name. Mr. Ivens saw Ernst and he appears to be walking just fine, just a little slow. Larsen, our other student that we were very concerned about is doing great. Most of his problem is fear and we were blessed to have Pastor Carla, from Heart Cry International come to the school and spend a few days in each class and with some students individually, Larsen being one of them, to help them talk about their fears and what to do. We thank you so much Carla, and we look for your return. She has promised to do a follow up with the school next month.
The country is still a pile of rocks, and now tents, everywhere. It seems that food is getting out to the people, praise the Lord. However, we here at TLC have never received anything from the larger organizations like Unicef, Red Cross, World Food Program or the 82nd Airborne to help with our projects. We praise the Lord He continues to meet our needs even for the extra things He is guiding us to be part of for HIM.
Our mail is up and running for anyone that does wish to write to their sponsored child or even to one of our teachers.
Most of the community and many, many parts of Haiti have the city electricity restored, praise the Lord the school has it as of last night. However, please pray for me to receive it quickly here at the Guesthouse. I am spending over $160.00 US a week for diesel fuel to run the generator, this has more than doubled my usual expenses. The city water is beginning to be restored in most areas, another praise the Lord as we were all buying truck loads, in fact I need another one tomorrow.
We all, Nickson, Ivens, myself, most of the staff, and most of the teachers, all know that God is in control, our faith is strong, and we continue to serve HIM the very best way we can, as we listen to the still small voice within.
God bless each and every one that reaches out with HIS love.
In Christ,
Dottie

WOW, HAVE WE GOT A PRAISE THE LORD AND AN ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS!!!!!!
Some of you may remember that we have about 6 very out of date old desk top computers, they are so old our technician could not longer update them, it would just cost too much………..so we have been praying, knowing that God knows our needs, and praying for HIS perfect will…………….
Three men from “The Texas Baptist General Convention.” visited with me yesterday and actually did videos and today, praise the Lord we have 4 new Dell laptop computers, internet ready. I cannot express how overjoyed I am for our students but that seeing God in action is just too much for words, only tears of gratitude to these men who are out and about being the hands and feet of the Almighty God we all serve. As you know many come to my Guesthouse, and many love and talk about how can they help us, well, is this not seeing God in action? But………….that’s not all, they want to make a Computer lab for TLC school. They will be in touch with members of our Board to see how they can get, maybe 10 or 12 new desk top computers to us here in Haiti with someone that is coming in soon.
Here is a picture, just for everyone to see how God can and will answer prayer if you leave the choices up to HIM!!!!!!! Now we are praying for a computer teacher and sometimes it is just a little wait, but I know that what He brings us to, He will also get us through.
God bless all of you, as I know you pray for our needs daily just as we pray for all of you too.

Dear wonderful supporters, sponsors and prayer warriors,
Once again it has been quite some time since I have been able to bring all of you up to date. So here’s the most recent that I can share with you.
Mr. Nickson and his wife now have a baby girl, and even though he is pretty Americanized he and his family still prefer to sleeping in a tent as to moving into anything we could offer them that has cement or blocks, so this is their choice and we must respect their fears but pray for all of those that have homes that have been pronounced “safe,” but choose to live outside in a tent.
This brings us to the “Tent Communities,” they are everywhere. Some are over 1000 in tents. I will get some photo’s this weekend when we dispurse food again. The last distribution went well, but we could have used another 500 bags to try and even come close to feeding the people. This community is now too large for us, we can’t begin to touch their needs, so this past Saturday we stuck to the smaller communities and I will send those photos in a few days.
We also are still feeding the cooked rice at the school on Saturday’s. We fed probably about 300 children and a few adults. We are using the FMSC (Feed My Starving Children) rice packets for this project.
School is going well, all of our students except the two that chose not to return are doing ok. The aftershocks that continue to come, one this morning, are not helping with the fear that all of them are experiencing. We were blessed last week and today to have a visiting counselor that came from Missouri to work with Hope Force International and some other hospitals in helping children understand what has happened in their lives and how to cope. Even though we are behind in our curriculum we did feel that helping the children overcome their fears and trying to help them understand it all, was of far more importance.
My dear friend Kathy Chappell that had arrived on Valentine’s day to give me some relief, was very unexpectedly called home to Missouri today. Her sister is extremely ill and is in the hospital. Our Father opened all the doors as we rushed to get her on a plane this morning, praise HIS HOLY name she was boarding a plane at about 9:45 am, God never ceases to answer prayers. Please lift her and her family to our Father and pray for HIS perfect will. The sister Ruthie has been ill for many, many years.
The Guesthouse has been too busy for me, but apparently not for our Father and Haiti. I continue to draw on HIS strength, as mine is defintiely gone at the end of everyday.
Mail is back up and running for all of us. We do have to go a much longer way to pick-up, but God has that plan too, right?
The food prices continue to soar, but rice in the large 55 lb. bags is not too bad, it is now $32.00 US.
