Hi all,
What a great Saturday, Jan. 30th, 2010.
Our wonderful doctors, some very special friends of mine that stayed at the Guesthouse several months ago, Dr. Ken Elam and Dr.Kelly Fluitt along with our wonderful pharmacist, David Fluitt volunteered to do another free clinic for our area. They came into PaP last week with MFI and are currently working with several hospitals here in Port. After working all week they still wanted to work on Sat. to see how they may be of help. They brought with them, lots of medicines and a wonderful Haitian nurse that has been in the states when she was 12 years old, she still spoke good Creole and French. One photo is Monique, the nurse checking out a little baby boy, nothing serious.
We saw about 70 patients and stopped counting. Our little Adriana did come in with Papa, with the Xray, and it was a good clean break and it was set with a cast. She is scheduled to return to the hospital on Tuesday, but is anxiously wanting to return to school. She was given crutches but we feel perhaps we might have to help teach her how to use them, I know you will keep her in your prayers.
We also had one little guy, maybe about 6 yrs. old with a broken arm since the quake and had not been set. Unfortunately we could not set the arm, but wrote a prescription for the hosptial where he will be treated for free and gave him something for the pain. However I am told by now the pain is probably not too bad as it is probably already growing as is. I’ve attached a few photos of todays happenings.
Another wonderful event of the day is that the 82nd Airborne reached us today to see what we needed. They were out and about in the neighborhood and the young man came in to talk with me, wanting to know exactly what we were doing. What a Godsend, and he has now put us on the list for food and other items, please begin to pray with me for the items to reach us so that we can reach so many others.
Karl Olson also brought us several cases of potatoe flakes, Herbalife protein drink, and a chocolate drink powder for children. Chuck went to Love a Child the other day and brought our January allotment along with an extra 25 cases. Praise the Lord we passed out rice, Herbal Life drink, and toothbrushes at out little clinic as our patients left. The majority of the patients seen today were children with “gripe,” basically a cold and alot of allergies. The country needs rain, the dust is creating problems as the tent cities are overcome, but to have rain right now would be deadly for all. Please continue to pray for God’s mercy.
Mr. Ivens and Chuck’s team also passed out another 100 family paks today in a desperate area. All went well.
Please begin to pray for a place to be able to cash checks. Our cash is about gone, we had a small payroll, but have also been helping those in desperate need.

(8 days after the Haiti earthquake)
Hi all,
Another wonderful day here in Haiti, we can always see God in our trials and tribulations if we really look………many, many of the 5th, 6th and a couple 7th grade children helped with the serving, gathering plates, serving water, washing dishes and sweeping the floor as we fed over 420 adults and children today. What a PRAISE THE LORD!!!!! The best part, they stayed all day to help, not just do a little and leave, it really brought tears to my eyes, they even laughed with me and had some fun. I guess it was funny to watch Miss Dottie wash dishes.
We have accounted for a few more children today, the count is now down to 19 (still missing of the total school population), another praise God. Mr. Nickson did not fair as well today out on the street as we did yesterday. He waited in a gas line for far too long only to be halted when he got close, sad part……….closed due to fighting, not empty, just too many hostiles.
Again we see nothing of the food and water that is supposed to be coming into all areas. Many are still not being reached at all, even for medical aid.

(7 days after the Haiti earthquake)
We were able to buy, gas, diesel, propane and filtered water (not culligan). Some vegetables are now being sold too, sad to say the worse news is that the prices have increased tremendously…….a 55 lb. bag of rice that used to be around $25.US is now $42.00. This is extremely difficult to deal with….
We had a late start yesterday in getting food prepared, had to purchase some items on the street. So we unfortunately fed only about 200.
What do you hear there as to the aftershocks? We just had another, just now!!!! This is what is keeping so many absolutely terrified and driving them out of the city.

(4 days after the Haiti earthquake)
We are feeding as many as possible here at the school. Started that yesterday, just rice and water. Mr. Nickson (the school principal) is handling that for me, and I have been in our makeshift hospital at Monasaro’s for 3 days.
Many Haitian doctors and nurses coming to volunteer. Orthopedic surgeon helping with the lost arms, legs etc. So many broken bones can’t count, can’t set, no plaster, hopefully supplies will come today. Most hospitals crashed or no power.
Love A Child is trying to get some doctors in from he DR and we can send critical patients there. I have done things I never thought possible, stitching, cleaning, cutting away dead skin. Some are still being dug out and the dead bodies are being gathered in trucks and carried somewhere, God help us….I don’t know where.
